    It may grant a superior position but the advantage is not as prominant due to the lack of material advantage. Black can retreat the bishop to g6 and be a healthy pawn up with a rather passive position.

    It's not a "rather passive position", it's a complete and absolutely hopeless zugzwang: 1.Ng3 Bg6 2.Rxe8+ Qxe8 3.Bxf6 gf6 4.Re1 followed by Nd5 and /or h4/a4, will cost Black at best one his two fat pawns at b6 or g6, and at worst the fat pawn at g8.
