This is a forced mate in 7. I hope you like it, I'm hoping it's not a pattern you're use to seeing.

on move two how come you can't use the bishop to fork the king and queen with the knight acking it up?

    otherwise good puzzle

you can't ever fork king and queen. This is forced mate line for white, so even if you could, why bother going after queen?

On move 1 black response should be Kxg7 not Kh8. This isn't forced mate.

    I the king takes on g7 on move 1, white has 2.Rg6+ Kf7 (2...Kh7/8 Qh6#) 3.Qd7#.

On move two this is also possible.

if kxg7, then rg6+ followed by:

    kxh7, qh6#

    kf7, qd7#

kh8, qh6 Forced mate in one

That's why kxg7 does not work. Here is a diagram.

Yes, exactly, this is why it was forced mate. I already thought of those responses and saw the best response as not taking the knight.

    Thanks DieHardGiantsFan

Always time myself to solve a puzzle, a better challenge and puts pressure on my neurones as in a real OTB game, just trying to stay sharp.

I use a stopwatch with 100 graduations for a one minute time elapsed and it can run 30 minutes.

For instance a reading of 0.5 is 30 seconds for a reading of 0.75 it is exactly 45 seconds.

    I like challenges.
