Moving the kings is a good idea, but it's not necessary to solve it.

 

Sweet. Those hours sacrificed to the knight endgame gods actually pay off. Wink

Very nice solution. Once you realize how to solve the shorter problem of rotating the pattern 90 degrees, the rest is easy.
