Sorry I forgot about the rook on g7. But the first one is right because after Rxd7 there is Qxd7#

Rd8+ is met with Nxd8. After that black can play Nd7+ forking the king and queen, but black would still be down a piece.

Yes, amiraz, you are correct for both puzzles. Here is another tricky one.

 

 

NOTE: In the diagram, it says "White to move" except it is actually black to move. The goal of this puzzle isn't checkmate, but material gain.

2. axb5 Nxd4+

Then:

If 3. Kxd4 Rc4# (main line)

If 3. Kb4 Rc4+ 4.Ka3 Nxb5+ 5. Kb3 Bc2+ 6. Ka2 Ra4# (see move list)

If 3. Kd2 Nb3+ 4. Ke2 Rc2+ 5. Ke1 Nxa1 (see move list)

 I found the obvious move then looked for variations to see if it was correct.
