Nice puzzle. It is not about mating but removing the threat and get a great positional  advantage, I think.

 I think ending up with a king, rook and two pawns against a king and pawn is more than a positional advantage.  It's an outright win.  In all fairness, though, Black would do better not to capture the knight.
