Impervious to engines, that is. Here's a tip o' the hat to good old fashioned human sagacity. This is one of the best OTB combinations I think I've ever seen.
Note: In the actual game black resigned at move 26 when it was clear he was doomed. I've taken the liberty of adding one possible continuation but it's very likely that I've overlooked a more efficient win. If you find an improvement at move 27 or later, please share it!
hello Gonnosuke,
The player is Kiril Georgiev?
nope it's Krum Georgiev vs. Constantin Ionescu
According to my database, it's Krum Georgiev/Dubai 1986.
Gonnosuke perhaps you can show us continuations if black were to take whites knight? and whatnot..
If 26...fxg4 then 27.Qh4! Bg7 28.Qh7+ Kf8 29.e6 Ne5 (29...Nc5 30.e7#) 30.Ba3+ and black is fatally wounded. There are a few variations under Move List but this wasn't one of them. I think it was probably the threat of 27.Qh4 (27.e6!? looks dangerous too) that led black to resign but that's just a guess.
yes heard about this fellow Krum Georgiev, not as famous as Kiril though
nice
The engines shouldn't feel too bad -- it was impervious to me as well.
