Hope you will study the position for a while, if needed, before you look at the solution. Good luck Wink

    got it :)

The nice thing is white is about to be mated so whatever your candidate move is has to prevent it.  Still this would be fun to play in a game.

what happens on a immediate 0. gxf3? Black's position doesn't look that strong. White has a hugh material advantage.  ???

Wouldn't 0... gxh6 be better even though the chance of an early checkmate is blown?

Yeah what makes you so shure your queen won't be captured, better to have her in the sack than leave her wandering around doing damage!

    0. ...gxh6? 1. gxf3! Qxg1 2. Kxg1 1-0

To explain: if black's g-pawn captures white's queen, the king is exposed along the g-file.  White simply captures black's bishop with his own g-pawn pinning blacks queen to her king (because of white's rook on the g1 square).  White exchanges a bishop and a queen for his queen and rook, and is above in material leading to a winning endgame for white.

    Btw, Doesn't 0. Ne7+ Kh8 1. Nf5 also work?  Nf5 forks the queen's two mating squares.
