Is this impossible? or Am I doing something wrong?

This is a puzzle I have been working on for the past seven months. It has stumped me. It's from a chess app on my cell phone. Is this just a teaser or am i doing something wrong?

"Qa2!!"? It won't be mate in 2 if the king moves away from the corner region.

right :) Qa2 is the only move.

No the goal is TO mate. Qa2 seems like a good move but what is the next move. That stomps me.

Its impossible, trust me. My grandfather was famous for chess and he says that thats a non-kill. The king would keeep on runnin away. I have been stuck in that same situation.

1. qa2 kxa8

2. c8=Q++

1. qa2 kc6

2. qd5++

1. qa2 nb5

2. c8=Q++

2. Then what is white's move for mate?

ah forgot to add that variation of Nc8, but yea IM Pfren covered it for me. :)

It wasnt very hard... of course depending on your level it would be.

Okay let me clarify something  maybe this will help. If I go Qa8 black's knight will go c8. After that I see no possible checkmates

We never said Qa8

Considering this is not the first time I've seen some baffled person post this problem here, it can't exactly be a piece of cake for everyone.
