2)Mate in one.

DaSeekr

solved both...:)

1st one was tough ..took quite some time to figure it out..

2nd was quite easy...!!

Mainline_Novelty

Both were quite easy to be honest...the first one btw is actually mate in 4, not that it matters :) (but of course the first one is less easy to find ina real game, where you're not told that there's mate ;))

Something_Smart

that explains why I couldn't get the first one...

it's mate in 4...

still cool, though.

Both

Eseles

i solved both in one go

Gil-Gandel

The first one isn't a mate in three, which is why I eventually plumped for the line that was mating (in four). The second one was ridiculously easy. Got them both first time.

Shakaali

It helps solving when you are already familiar with the game (the Alekhine one)Tongue Out

bronsteinitz

Both in one go. The first one came instinctively.

Good puzzles!

ShyamGopal

Got it

It probably would have taken me longer had i read that it was mate in 3.

sara_manju

i knew first one is mate in 4. but 4th one useless move so did not include. anyway u all  brilliant players.b"coz i struggled to get first one as i was watching the game,  when the game declared white won before mate as it happens in most of the GM's games

Robbie960

no sweat...2nd one a gimme!

Master_Kaina

yes i'v seen the1st puzzle b4w/queen sacrifice4the mate, nice but not complicated. & as others hv pointed-out it duz not hv the final mate move Rxh6# (which would make it mate-in-4 not 3) & yes the2nd puzzle wuz much ezier4sure Cool

J_Ludwig

both, but the first one took longer becouse there is no mate in 3

MatchStickKing

done, 25 seconds.

stephen_33

The first one required a little thought but knowing Alekhine was the master of the queen sacrifice helped.
(BTW - Mate can be delayed by a further move  2...Qxf2+)

The second puzzle didn't need much thinking about.
