The capture by the King isn't forced, though.  That doesn't, then qualify as a mate in 2 if the King an another out; am I not correct?

 the author made it so that any other move would have resulted in a checkmate in the next move anyway. I guess it depends on what u mean by "mate in 2" whethor it's checkmate in any two moves or forced moves
