I don't know it will be check in 7. I check, check and check then going on for check until check mate. Do you have puzzle checkmate in 17? And have this type moves solution! Anyhow thanks for sharing Mr.Susu (Beware swine flu outbreak!)

Once you realise that white has mate in one, you see that you have to check everymove until checkmate, and then the puzzle becomes straightforward :)

 Why 7. Qf5, why not Qe5?

I also think 2.Kg3... 3.Nf3 might mess with the program here.

2. Kg3 Qf2+ 3. Kh3 Rc3+ 4. Nf3 Rxf3#

I agree that Qe5 prolongs the game though.

Black wins rather easily in all continuations, but I don't believe it's a forced mate in 7.

Indeed... I wasn't thinking at all about Black's other checks, like Qf2+ ... why wasn't I thinking about them? ... because I've injured my brain looking at too many whack chess positions today. ;)

White 7.f5 rather than 7.Qf5 delays the mate for several moves.

I agree with you,daxelson,.....it is not a force mate in 7.....

Only in your nice example,i would change the last move of black,10.Qxg6,instead of fxg6,in order to capture the white Bishop.

By playing 10.fxg6,black looses the knight on g2...
