The pieces can not move, but I think I got it right: 1. Bb7+ Kxb7 2. a8Q#

Again arificial postion. Qb1 seems win by force. Black is in Zugzwang so must capture queen or rook other piece check-mates. All other first move allow black to delay mate by one move by interposing new queen.

Xavier Padilla you gave following solution-

The pieces can not move, but I think I got it right: 1. Bb7+ Kxb7 2. a8Q#

But 2-....Kxa8 is simple retort !

thats not that hard...i figured it in like a min you choose 1) move dark square night to take paun next to dark square bishop move pawn forward to queen... or if he chooses not to take the night with the pawn goody you can move white squared bishop to white square in front of dark squared bishop- that would be mate in 2... i think thats the one you were talking about..... but maybe you were talking about movin the queen all the way to the right and then all the way forward... but thats too easy and you wouldnt have made the post if thats the one you thought also mate in 2 you choose which one you want to do.

Qg1 it is and black is in zugswang... black is forced to take either the rook or the queen with on of his pawns - it is the only legal moves he have to choose from... and after that its mate at the back rank...

Again I agree with Filipuser, but I need to say that I am solving them (clever puzzles, by the way) without reading his answers first.  I know that was petty to say, but it has been twice within a few minutes.

Arunchess, in your 1st post #4, you mean Qg1.  I often make the same error.

Im sure it is all nice - only problem - i dont see any chess problem : the post appears empty on my screen.????

Anybody has any idea why? Must be some setting problem - i can play live chess with no problems at all (except getting disconnected from server of course  :-))

or 1. Qh4  ...g1 2. Qh8 mate

Nope, although it is easy to over-look, but it both cases, the black's g1 queen can interpose on g8. The correct answer is an extention of your theme however, 1 Qg1 and black must capture either rook or queen and white plays

2 Qg8# or Rh8#

1. Qg1

...hxg1 2.Rh8#

or...gxh1 2.Qg8#

The piece that is promoted will be trapped behind the other pawn either way.
