sorry i am not a top level player but is ...27 kxh8 a viable move because it does not lead to a discovered check?

This move is met with 28. Qh5+ with two options for Black, both of which are mate -

... Kg8 29. Qh7#

... Bh6 29. Qxh6+ Kg8 30. Qh7#

And we wouldn't have such an awesome puzzle to play there :)
