    Hi All,

I hope no-one minds me submitting this here.

I have developed an iPhone puzzle app that will be released on the app store on this Thursday the 9th June.  I believe it is unique as it covers 12 common mate patterns (with their own puzzles) as well as hundreds of other puzzles, covering mate in one, two and three.  The app is called "Mobile Chess Problems 123".

It supports seven languages:  English, French, Dutch, German, Spanish, Ukranian and Russian.

Thanks for the comments.  It has been a combination of my effort and some other developers.  How much I get paid depends on how much it sells!  :)

I am hoping that chess players will treat the puzzle app like they treat books - one can never have too many!  Laughing

Funnily enough theres a game for chess on DS (a game console), but no-ones going to buy that lol. However, an app may be much better and much more portable and handy on Ipod touches/iphones. that is, if there isn't already one? Hmmm =P Well, yours is the first ive seen to be sure, so its all about promotion and advertising :D

And actually theres only been one comment before. lol (you said comments).

Thanks very much to those that have bought the app.  It went live today and the response has been amazing!

Search for "mobile chess problems 123" on the app store if you are interested or go to: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mobile-chess-problems-123/id440002852?mt=8

    Thanks!  :)

    Hi All,

Just to let you know for those of you that like to "try before you buy" there is a "Lite" a.k.a Free version going onto the app store!

It should be available sometime tomorrow, Tuesday the 21st June , all being well.  It is a fully functional app and has support for English, French, Dutch, German, Spanish, Ukranian and Russian.  It has 45 puzzles in total (including 7 examples) compared to the almost 450 puzzles of the paid version.  It also only has 4 "checkmate pattern" categories compared to the 12 in the paid version.

    Thanks!  :)

    Hi,

Yes, the "Lite" version will be free as it has a reduced number (45) of puzzles and a reduced number (4) of checkmate patterns.

    Regards.

    Hi All,

One thing I forgot to mention is that about 80% of the puzzles in the "Lite" version are purely for the Lite version i.e. they are not repeated in the full version.  Cool

    Regards.

I just wanted to say thanks to APBCPT for making the code available to me, and also to say that this is a really nicely put together App. The interface is clear, and it is easy to get stuck into the huge number of puzzles quickly. Great fun! Smile

    Is it popular?

To be honest I have had positive reports generally and of course I think it is unique in the way it is structured.  The problem I have had is that there are so many other chess problem / chess puzzle apps out there it is difficult to get the name know.

The free version had about 30-40 downloads a day worldwide which is not bad I think.

I would be happy if sales of the paid version were even half as good but they are not.

Really nice app. There are some tricky puzzles too that make you think. Looks great on ipad also, not fuzzy like some apps made for iphone when you magnify them.

This has been re-released as "Checkmate in 123".  Bronco70 and BenTal - give me a shout and I will send you codes again.  Due to some issue about how the app was previosuly on the store I have had to re-release it.  It has been re-leased as "Checkmate in 123".  A number of updates will be released over the next few months.  You can view the app at:
