It's a particularly satisfying manuevere, as black is helpless. If 49...gxh4, 50. fxg6! One must be careful not to do it too close to your own back rank, or the opposition pawn majority will be dangerous, or, as in this case, have your King blocking the now fractured opposition pawns.
