Rb7 was discussed please read all posts, only solution is Bb6.

So Bb6 is a winner... Guess this thing solven thenCool

Congrats FanofSomeone!

Nb5 leaves black with only 2 options Bb7 or Ba6 (if he leaves that diagonal Nb8 or Nd8 would be mate) if Bb7 Nc7# will be mate Ba6 Nd8# that leaves Bb7 and B*b7 mate

so mate in 3 is  1)Nb5 Ba6 2) Nd8 Bb7 3) B*b7 mate

Let me know if i missed any other line

balaji2101

If black decides to make Be6 again Nd8 B*B then Rc8 is mate

1) Nb5 Be6 2) Nd8 B*B 3) Rc8 mate

2) Nb5 Bb7 2) Nc7 mate

3) Nb5 Ba6 2) Nd8 Bb7 3) B*b7 mate

I think you'll find after  1.Nb5  Be6    2.Nd8  Bxd5+  then white's king is in check so you can't follow up with 3.Rc8 straight away !

Not mate in 3 moves.

It looks as if the only solution that works is 1.Bb6 & since no-one else has provided a diagram...

Well done FanofSomeone !

Move pawn from b4 to b5 (1). Black can only move the bishop. When the bishop has moved, move rook to h8, forcing the bishop to cover the checked king (2). Take the bishop with the rook on c8 (3). Checkmate in three moves.

But what about  1...Bd7  2.Rh8+  Kb7   then what ?

1) Nb5, then mate in 2 either by Queen or Rook

Doesn't work, and the puzzle was already solved months ago.

Gak! And when the thought that Kb2 and that blasted bishop who can go everywhere were but a mere memory best forgotten...

HI

MATE IN TWO

NO NEED THREE

rd91

1.Qg7 Bb7(forced move) 2.Qxb7#

only took two moves

balaji2101

Bb7 is not forced. Bd7 will help him run away or stalemate if you capture Bd7. No one bettered fanofsomeone here yet. :)

I think both Kb2 and Kc3 work as well:

Please tell me if I am wrong somewhere.

Kind regards,

Player8-CHAMPION

balaji2101

for 1) Kb2 Bd7 2)Nb8+ Kxa7 and he escapes
