Instead of the rook moving to b6 the king could have moved to f5 or something like that so the pawn on f4 couldn't die. Nice try though. Make it more intresting next time.

actually, the board is flipped, so you are actually suggest 2. Kc4, in which case black would take the pawn on a4, check. white would remove its king from check, and black would take the rook. and then the pawn on c5 would, in fact, "die."

but you're right, white could have lost in several different ways.
