If you don't know what a series help mate is, it is a puzzle where black makes moves to let white checkmate black in one move.  The white pieces will not move.  You can not make a check in the series, except possibly the last move.  They are actually pretty easy.

Here is the puzzle (Series help mate in 17) :

    And this is relevant how?

OP, how do you make the puzzle work without the White moves?

I have a few but dont know how to post them

    On a random note, droidsupertank's position could be a series helpmate in 12 with 1.Ke3 2.Qf4 3.Kf3 4.Kg4 5.Kh5 6.Qg6 7.Kh6 8.Kh7 9.Kg8 10.Qg7 11.Qh8 12.Qa4 Qf7#. If there's a faster way, I don't see it, and I don't imagine anyone really cares, but I just thought I'd point it out :P

I just did a PGN file and I did Kc1 for every white move.

Do you have Chessmaster? Because I solved both of those series help mates this morning under John Nunn's 50 puzzles.

Remember that black moves in a series help mate.  However, if white was moving here, the fastest way is probably to play 1. Ke4 and to get d3 and f3 blocked using the two queens so black can play Qe5#.  This takes 4 moves.  So, the puzzle could be series help mate in 5.

    More seriesmovers:

A series selfmate is a puzzle where white makes a series of moves without checks to get into a position where black is forced to checkmate white on the next move.

    Example (seriesselfmate in 4):

A seriesmate is when white makes a series of moves without checks to mate black in the final position.

    Example (seriesmate in 6):

A seriesreflexmate is when white makes a series of moves (without checks) to get into a position where white's only legal move is to checkmate black, and black's only legal move is to checkmate white.

I couldn't think of a simple seriesreflexmate example, but I'll post them here when I could think of one.
