or I misunderstanding about 2x2 block?
The 2x2 blocks are good, but every row and every column has to contain exactly one of each type of piece :)
Think of it as a sudoku-like position.
36 and a half moves
No, your position needs each rank, file, and 2x2 square to have one rook, bishop, knight and queen.-I think.
Nice! 35.5 is the score to beat :)
The winner of the past round was maewmiaou; it's your turn to make a position.
There is one more rule that we need to make: We need a time limit for how long the winner has to post his new position.
Question 1: Do people agree?
Question 2: How long should it be? - Suggestions are welcome.
Question 3: What is the new rule on who gets to post the new position
I would say that it probably should be between 3 days and a week (and a half??), and that whoever is the next on after the time is up should get to post.
The best solution is no less than 28 moves.
Edit: The best solution is no less than 27 moves, sorry.
Only one move is wasted here. A 27 move solution may be possible.
27 moves. I don't think it is possible to beat that.
If it is true that it is impossible to beat 27 moves, do I get to post the next position?
I am just about 100% certain that 27 moves is the best possible. If it's unbeatabel then I see no other reason not to let you post the next one. The only problem I can see is that other people that can't see why it is unbeatable may not like it.
I spent a while looking for a 27 move solution and missed that path for the queen. Nice job finding that. When I was looking for different capture setups I apparently missed the one you used.
I got a game that lasted 9 moves lol.
1. Qe5# mate?
whoops. Maybe not
Yeah I think your right
and how will this improve my chess skills? I need to focus my training time on constructive stuff.
Sorry to hear your chess skills are so bad then.
How are his skills bad if he focuses on something more constructive?
Pointless puzzles like this will never help your game.
They are a waste of time.
Why do people think that the sole purpose of chess puzzles is to improve the chess game? Much of the time puzzle's aren't intended to help your game at all.
