Hey Chessies! I'm just trying out how to post puzzles and thought this game had some fun forcing tactics to try out.  Let me know what you think. Move 26 has a forced mate w/ rook, but I didn't find it during the game :P

Fun situation, thanks for the post!

I was thinking maybe 27. Re8+ instead of 27. Qc8+, because checking with the rook keeps the rook pinned to the king by the queen.  The only answer by black is 27. ...Bf8, followed by 28. Rf8#, as king can't capture (protected by bishop), and rook can't capture (pinned to king).

well, at 26. isn't Re8#??? I don't see why you missed it... what was the time constraint?

Yeah, sorry, it's not a proper puzzle since it should end in the rook mating. I just went for the material gain since the game was won regardless at that point so I didn't look at it beyond that. I pasted the pgn from the game and couldn't figure out how to edit the moves once it was pasted in. Is there a way to do that?

After much review, (about 2 minutes worth) I discovered that a previous member posted the same thing as me, but since I didn't see the Bbf8, I had thought it was mate, sorry for the confusion

Re8 isn't mate but the bishop interposition is useless, and just delays mate by one move.

The sequence up to that isn't perfect by white either, according to my engine. But then if it were, I would suspect you of using one, so it's just as well...
