I don't understand. Is that thing sitting on c7 not the black queen? Making 0-0-0 impossible?

There is a pawn on the black square in front of the queen.

just in case some of you didn't get it, the 'design' is what makes it the hardest mate in 1 ;P

PS. so what really made it insanely insane were black pieces on black squares

I solved it after "touching" black pieces to see which were where. The pawns are kinda hard to see if you don't search for them.

No. The king has to block the c2-square.
