White to move and win.
Agreed. After the first move, everything falls into place.
I'm a rank begginer, so this was a little tricky because:
SPOILER!!!
I'm not used to giving away pieces without thinking I'll get something back right away. Especially not powerfull pieces.
Took me a while because I didn't (and still don't) see why Black takes the Pawn.
If black doesn't capture the pawn, white can move a4 and eventually connect the b and c pawns. Example: If d5 instead of Rxc6 then play continues with a4 bxa4 gxh7 Kxh7 b5! and black's cooked. Hope that helps.
p.s. I included quite a few variations when I posted the puzzle. If you click Move List, you should be able to see them.
good one
nice
Easy, but there is a problem with this. Black still has a position with a possible win. The game is not nearly resolved.
Please elaborate. Black's position looks hopelessly lost but it's possible I've overlooked something. If you're thinking that black doesn't have to capture the c-pawn, I think you're mistaken. See my previous post or look at the variations in the Move List for the details as to why. If the pawn isn't captured, white pushes the a-pawn and connects the b/c pawns. Black is lost.
yikes i couldnt get this one at first
GM move I like it ; )
