A puzzle from N.Grigoriev :
White to play and win
Nswwsn gave the solution for #188 .The curious thing about this puzzle is that in different lines all the 3 black pawns goes to Queens and in every one case are trapped by white Queen.
And here is a puzzle from V.Tacu :
The importance of small details
white to play and win
Smiley, you found half of the solution - look for small details in the white moves and I think you will find the second half
1.Rxc6 a5 2.Rb6+ Kc4 3.Ra6 Kb4 leads to draw ....
I suppose , this is the first "don't-take-the-pawn" ....
My guess is start with Rb7+ to seperate the king from at least one of the 2 pawns but I can't say for certain.
I also think 1.Rb7+ must be the first move:
But there is a better move for black - 1...Kc3 and may be there is hidden real solution...
I am not sure if I am exact enough, but I think the idea must be :
I count 3 times "don't-take-the-pawn"
You mean this position : I think there is no problem for white .
Yes, I will post soon new one . This one by Pal Benko was super
A famous position,known as " Queens wheel" :
This is a puzzle by L.Kubbel :
The subject of last few puzzles was " playing with Queen "
The same is in #207 . Here is the solution :
I know I'm missing something, but how has White won at the end of post 208?
You can try solving helpmate problems or post some helpmate problems to :
Yes, that's right ...I can only dream of temperatures on Canary Islands
Here is an elegant puzzle by G.Zahodyakin :
Smiley, you are near ... white first have to restrict the black knight:
