Here's the ending of a game played in a match betwene the Company and the 2K Club (At time of posting score was 8 to 1 one for the 2K Club). It resembled remarkably a typical tactical exercise. See if you can solve it.
Black has just played Qc6, looking for the trade. White is clearly winning, but how can he force the win of material.

Nicely played. Although 2... Kxf7 wasn't really forced, I probably would have played it as black.
If he hadn't played Kxf7 then the pawn promotes to Queen anyway.

Yeah, I was envisioining 2... Kf8 3. d8=Q+ Kxf7 and material's pretty much even again, but now it's a Bishop vs. Knight game.

Yeah, TheGrobe's right. White's still obviously better, but he wouldn't be a piece up in that line (it was a nice combo anyway).
