Since we have people here from all over the world, I thought this would be a good topic. We all have our different beliefs.

From what I read, heard and saw 2012 is the end. Now will it be the end or a new transformation ?

On Dec.21 2012 the long count calendar completes its 13th cycle. What do you think is going to happen ?

Look at the world right now. Weather changes-disasters. Wars. Hunger. Poverty. and the list goes on. It will lead to something.

What is happening. I did not create this topic to argue. I just want to know your own opinion.

The truth is the truth but what is the truth ?

First and foremost, December 2012 is too late for the world to end, as Britain will have already done an excelent job embarrising themselves at the Olympic Games.

On a brighter note, however, the world isn't going to end in 2012! I have no idea what a long count calendar is, but just because theres a number 13 doesn't mean Earth will implode. Does the planet destroy itself at one o'clock in the afternoon each day? Or on the 13th of each month? I'll answer that for you- no, it doesn't.

And theres a very good reason why the world won't end in 2012. There is this thing called the Laws of Physics, and what it basically means is that things don't just spontaneously happen, e.g. we don't all suddenly turn into cotton wool. Which is good, because cotton wool lacks the ability to do absolutely anything.

"There is this thing called the Laws of Physics, and what it basically means is that things don't just spontaneously happen"

What about CERN and LHC (The Large Hadron Collider) it will discover understanding of the Universe and it will show matters that don't exist according to laws.

"I have no idea what a long count calendar is"

Maya Calendar which predicts the end of the world. On Dec 21 2012 the earth will be in exact aligment with the sun and the centre of milky way galaxy.

There is this thing called Quantum Mechanics which states that there is a chance, no matter how small, that we could turn into cotton wool, or anything else spontaneously. I'm not saying I agree that the world will end in December 2012, but just making a point.

Not true.  The LHC will not show things that don't exist according to laws, it will explain the missing pieces of the laws.  It has been hypothesised that the LHC will prove the existence of dark matter.

The current laws of physics are accurate, but not in enough depth to explain some universal happenings, such as the reversal of laws when entering a black hole or the standing still of time when reaching the speed of light.  It’s not that these are unexplainable, but simply that we haven’t explained them yet.

To answer the original question, the world won't end in 2012.

But it will discover new dimensions which are unreal in this world according to physics.

According to some believe the world as we know it will end but humans won't be responsible. It has something to do with the change of the magnetic poles. In december 2012 the poles will disapear and reapear to a new location. Although I don't believe in it 100% butt I do find it interesting reading.

Let's make the best of it... I'll have glass of cognac and a keen eye on the chess board. Beter open a new topic (where will you be in 2012?)

take care,

I think it is a little far fetched because Nostradamus predicted this a long time ago.

Let's just hope that he is WRONG.

Hey!  What do you know!  My 2000th post!  If the world ends in 2012, then I will just go to a better place.  No need to worry about the end at all.

whenever is the apocalypse

there's nothing to care about

if it's really the apocalypse, everyone will die.. so why would you stress about it.
enjoy life while you're alive, and don't worry about all the way you can die..

because you will anyway.

Yeah we should enjoy life while we still alive but we also should care.

What is the whole point of life ? To live is to care. How can you live and not care?

There must be some kind of reason why we live, why we are different.

The way things are going today we will end the world ourselves. Nobody cares anymore.

The fact that, if the 'apocalypse' is really coming up, is that we really can't do nothing about it.
There would be no hope or escape.

so i believe that instead of crying over the situatation, it would be way better to enjoy our last moments of life doing something you like or being with people you like.

Panic all over the globe would be teriffying and stressfull ending moments.

i have my personal ideas about the point of life and existence on earth, but we're talking about the apocalypse and it's effect on people.

imagine if nostradamus predicted good.

and in 2011, breaking news on all channels announce the end of times, a meteor is hurling to the earth and everything will be over in december 2012

what would you do, if a meteor would hurl to the planet and you would have 1 year to live.

i seriously doubt it will happen.... people are stressing out over everything nowadays.. they stressed out over 2000 as much as they stress out for 2012, as much as humanity always had stressed out about end of times coming up.

There's much more to care about out of apocaliptics conspiraties,

Chess tactics for instance.

I understand what you are saying. If we knew that the world was going to end for sure, do you think we would live our lives differently ? I don't know about you but I would like to change how I live and what I do. Is there a point what I do now ?

Right now I am trying to make the best of my life. what is life ?

You come to this world, you grow up wanting everything, you go to school, you get education become somebody or not, get a job, start a family, buy a house or build one, plant a tree or destroy one. and than what ? it is over ? your point of life was to work from 8 to 5 or whatever, come home, eat, raise your kids, watch tv, play games, pay bills, care for your family and what they have. You wake up the next day you do the same over and over again. the point ? and you wish to die. you lived your life. there is nothing to it. you have kids. that you brought to this world and for what ? so you can be a parent ? soon there is going to be 7 billion people in the world. There is wars, accidents, and whatever you can imagine, so many people die and population is still growing. People have kids at 14. Kids have kids. Where is their parents ? Where is religion ? Where is the point of life ? Is the point in the end ? you lived your life and now its the end, you are old or you have cancer or it is the end of the world. THE END

What did you come to ? To the end of your life ? You lived your life, day by day, you enjoyed it, you lived to the fullest of it or you asked for the end. What have you accomplished ? The enjoyment or not of life ?

I don' t know if I make any sense to any of you. I don't know what I mean anymore. I lost my meaning somewhere.

So we know it is the end in 2012 or when we are 85 or 100 years old. We lived, enjoyed, we died. can you call it pointless ? We lived to enjoy and than to die. We didn;t live to find the meaning of life unless the only meaning is the enjoyment. Can you enjoy and not know why you here ?

Please do share with your point.

I pay no attention to the talk that the world will end in 2012.  there have been many predictions in the past that, due to various factors, the world would end at a specific time.  I notice we're still here.

i do not understand really what you're trying to say due to the fact english is not my native language.

But all what i want to say is, the world must stop stressing out about the future and what is coming up, people don't work to live anymore, they live to work because they want the best conditions possible for their future life whie life is happening in the PRESENT moment.

life passes by people while they are making plans for it.

and their mind is corrupted by everything bad happening  or that may happen in the world. People are so scared and stressed out.

i've stop to think about what is the worst  that could happen

and i've started to think about the what is the best that could happen.
