Hello! New Years Eve is coming up, most of us are on vacation right now. So I wondered, does anyone have suggestions to books I can read during the holdays? Now, I do not mean chess books, but plain fun litterature novels. Your answers will be most appreciated.  Have anyone of you read or seen Pride and Prejudice? Such a great masterpiece by Jane Austen ^^;

"The Fixer" by Bernard Malamud is probably the best novel I have ever read (I'm 52).  it is powerful and at times disturbing.  it won't make you laugh but it probably will make you think.

"El paraiso en la otra esquina" by mario vargas llosa.

its a very good book about the life of french impressionist painter Paul Gaguin and at the same time the story of his grandmother who was a feminist who faught for the rights of french laborers.excellent! the story centers mostly on gaguin's life on the french polynesian islands of the pacific ocean and his genuine dislike of modern society. the story of his grandmother is also very absorbing.

Relax, people have different tastes. I ordered all of the books, looking forward to start reading them ^^    And Twilight saga is not only read by teenagers, I know of many adults reading the books. But let us not argue and rather suggest great books....

To ''freezenyr''; I just read the Fixer by Bernard Malamud, and I thought it was a good book. It was so sad to read how Yakov Bok and jews in general were completely mistreated. So, how do you think the trial went, in the end?

I would have liked a prolonging of the end of the book though, but otherwise a great one! Thank you for recommending that one.

100 Years of Solitude - a magnificent book

And Their Eyes Were Watching God (Nora Zeale Hurston)

Our Town (Thornton Wilder) - a play but an important read

A Raisin in the Sun (Hansberry) - another play but universal

Animal Farm - if you haven't read it
