I saw that in another forum that someone believed that Stephen King basically wasnt a very good writer. Many of his stories are bloody and grusome or sick and twisted but they all have exellent storyplots.  Stephen king also wrote under a different name, Richard Bachman, these story are a little less twisted but just as good story plots and worthy of reading.

Everyone is intitled to there opinions though.  What is your favorite author or book? and why?

Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston, which book I am not sure yet I will know after they finish writing. So far my favorite is Relic because of the strangeness of the book, but they all are in truth.

I consider Stephen King a mainstream horror writer. He does for horror what Waitzkin does for chess. He makes the best-seller lists, he's prominently displayed at local bookstores, and his books are adapted into movies. And many of them are even quite good! But if you want raw, visceral, gruesome horror--and not everybody does--then Clive Barker's your main. He writes dark, crazy things that sometimes you wish you hadn't read.

Favorite fiction novel? Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance or Atlas Shrugged
