Hi

I just saw Fight Quest last night - and it featured Kyokushinkai Karate. Can a KK practitioner explain how the sparring works. I just see two people just throwing punches into each other's bodies like they are punching bags, not too bother about blocking. I don't feel that it is Karate - it's just to see who's the last man standing !

There are no Kyokushinkai Karate practitioners who play chess - because they are mutually exclusive !

That would be full contact sparring.

Yes, it is. And the fighters don't seem to be too bothered with blocking. They are just interested in pummelling each other to knock out. Don't understand the strategy.
