Recently I've been studying openings and strategies for the game of checkers. I didn't know that people actually studied checkers as ardently as we study chess. Anyway, I just wanted everyone to know that playing checkers has actually helped me in chess, and playing chess has helped me in playing checkers. Of course I don't take checkers as seriously as chess, but I still think it can be an elegant game that's full surprises, and it requires a great deal of planning and logical thinking. I also read that Bobby Fischer played checkers. Just something to think about.
It seems really simple compared to Chess at first glance but there are other layers to it when you see someone playing who is brilliant at it.
I just recently played a game of Checkers and lost horribly. I couldn't even remember the rules because the last time I played it I was about 11yo.
