I have it for the ds.  It seems to be fairly robust and the mini-games included are fairly fun...especially the minefield chess one.  It is the only US released chess program for the ds and seems to be fairly good for beginner to advanced (I'm a beginner however so I'm just assuming based on the ELO ratings).  I also have the Fritz program for the ds, which was released only in Europe I believe.  It seems to be a bit more challenging, and has harder puzzles than the chessmaster one which I think is geared more to beginners in that respect.  That's my ds perspective anyway, I'm not sure about other options on the psp.
