What is 'your way': take all the fish out first? Are they the type of fish where you can safely put your hand in the water?

i take out a 3rd of the water first ,n then take out the filter, decors, then the gravel.then i  jus throw out the rest of the dirty water,n the i clean the inside part with water and soap n water again, then i jus arrange the stuff back n  put water and all my fishes back in..that takes me 3 hours to do perfectly!!

1. Remove the fish & decorations.

2. Rinse out the filter, not just the bag, and then place it back.

3. Scrub the decorations until most of the algae is gone.

4. Use a gravel cleaner to remove about 1/3 of the water. (minor cloudiness)

5. Add water (conditioned & dechlorinated) equivalent to the one you took out.

6. Place the fish & decorations back in.

For me, it only takes 15-30 minutes.

I have a Pond out side which only needs a powerful filter so you don't have to clean it out, on my old pond you had to clean it out, I am thinking on getting a Marine Tank though so these tips might come in handy; the first thing I am going to put in my Marine fish Tank is a Horseshoe crab !

2 ways.

  1. Throw the fishes out and wait half an hour. The water should get cleaner(mostly black).
  2. Throw in some soap, thootpaste and all stuff for cleaning. The fish eat and the tank gets cleaner. You don't do anything.

how larger is your fish tank? 30 minutes gosh i used to had a big very big fish tank about 2000 liters.......it was more like a pool than a fish tank. 2 meters * 1 meter * 60 cm. tree enormous filters connected to a second smaller fish tank b( fish tank empty of fishes just water), that was my water-clean-system. to do the procedure above, well explained  by ADK, it used to take me one day, a hard day for me and my fishes. more than "170" obviously they were the kind of the very small and peaceful fishes. its nice have a fish tank very relaxing but it demands one or two days a month a hard job to keep it nice!

once i had a japanesse fish (you know that coloured and obese fishes) and when he died his body was absorbed by one of my filters and then he blocked the water access. it was horrible. if there is something worst than see your fishes die its see your fishes die and block the filter to attempt to the other fishes life!
