Well, today is Earth Day, so I figured I'd post this poem I wrote about global warming. I am not a poet, I have never before written (or even read) a poem, and I will almost certainly never write another one either, so please do not be too harsh in your judgement of it. With that caveat, I offer:
Global Warming
And here in the museum you’ll find
This thing we call a coat.
Coats are obsolete today,
As surely you will note.
There was a time when it got cold,
Years ago, the days of old.
But now the sun has broken through.
There’s nothing left for us to do,
But reminisce about the days,
When ovens still were used for blaze.
No more are there any stoves,
Yet still we cook our garlic cloves.
Simply place them in the street,
And let them soak up all the heat.
I just cooked a stroganoff,
But I can’t turn the oven off.
Eternal sauna is too much,
The ground is way too hot to touch.
The polar caps now H2O.
No place left for us to go.
So hurry now and don’t be late.
I fear the bus just will not wait.
Make sure all your bags are packed.
No way we are coming back.
We had our chance to keep this place,
But now must fly to outer space.
I’m sorry if I made a fuss,
But now we ride the Pluto Bus.
Makes me remember my childhood with snowflake melting on my nose...those days long gone....love the poem!
