Hi there chess loonies, anyone fancy a bit of a laugh? As I lie in bed, on this fine Saturday morning, I have been thinking about amusing place names that I have passed by or seen on maps. For intance, there is a village in Yorkshire called Wet Wang, a street called Bell End in the West Midlands and it has come to my attention that there i a place called Myanus in Connecticut. Can anyone top these? I'm gonna look for some more (maybe I have too much time on my hands!)

Sadly I can't top that last post.

However here in South Africa we have a city called Bloemfontien which, when translated, means Flower Fountain.

I trid to post a picture of my aforementioned place name on here. It was a royal pain in the arse just trying to get it on here, and then I was greeted with the message, 'you must add a comment!'. Here is my comment: MAKE IT EASIER TO POST PICTURES. I HAVE NO POP UP BLOCKER!

Cornwall's highest point is called "Brown Willy", and if you take a detour from Offa's Dyke just south of Ross on Wye (and south-east of Three Cocks), you can climb up Lord Hereford's Knob.

Also, I have heard that in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, one can drive from Blue Ball through Intercourse and on to Paradise, all in little over an hour. Can anyone verify this please?

There's a road in Portsmouth called Fawcett Road, which has a pub called the Fawcett Inn. Their speciality drink used to be their own brand Fawcett Inn cider.
