As we see gas prices in America is shooting high....This may be a dumb statment or idea, but do yout think they have tried to find resources of gas in outer space, or tried to find elements that could be combined to make gas or oils? Just a thought let me know what ya think about the idea?
From outer space would be prohibitively expensive - to say the least. And in terms of combining earthly elements and the like, science's energies will be better spent in coming up with alternative power solutions like hydrogen cells. Renewables will also become more and more important.
In terms of oil, reserves will last for the next 50 or so years (depending on which study you read) and then we will all be in trouble - oil is in everything (for instance, plastic)!
Fair enough - there are so many studies out there stating different timelines, but there is one thing that they all agree on; we will eventually run out of all fossil fuels. This is simply due to their nature as 'fossil' fuels - they take millenia to produce naturally, and we are using them up at such a quick rate. At some point in the future, the human race will be forced to come up with an alternative.
Going back to your original question, I think that hydrogen fuel cells will be the fuel source of choice for motor vehicles of the future.
i do to...also there have been many advances for solar powered..not just vehicles but home energy as well
i believe the end is near to, bibically also
You are referring to the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve. While this federally controlled stock pile of mostly unrefined petroleum has been tapped occaisionally for public consumption, usually as a token gesture by an unpopular President during a period of price spikes at U.S gas stations, the reserve was never intended to replace, or even serve as a supplement, for the U.S. civilian supply. It was intended, and is barely sufficient at that, as an emergency 90 day supply of fuel for the U.S. military and other "essential" government functions. The entire SPR would comprise a drop in the bucket compared to the oil consumed by the the U.S. annually. Also, much of the SPR is in unrefined form, which doesn't help if you have a shortage of refining capacity or some of it is knocked out by terrorism or other act of war.

I think the formula is G = MC 2
