BOYS! Will you please stop thinking girls know nothing about computers. You need to stop thinking we don't know what a USB Cable is, or how to fix the internet when it crashes. Alot of boys think I don't know how to set up a printer or how to fix the computer when it has a viurs or how to hack a windows xp computer. It's freaking simply! Stop thinking we don't know anything. It erks me! It erks me so!
swathe
I am a pretty hard core computer nerd and work in the the enterprise computing environment, from fielding calls from internal staff to server maintenance. My wife works in level one IT support and has learned a lot and is pretty competent as far as basic trouble shooting goes. Women being bad with computers is a generalisation, same as all men are bastards. I think it's up to the individual to prove both of these opinions wrong. On the whole though, men in general do have a better knowledge of computers, but in no way does this mean women know nothing. There are many amazingly talented women working in the IT field, and many women programmers have made brilliant contributions to commercial and open spurced projects.
I guess what I am trying to say is that fighting against those sort of sweeping statements won't achieve all that much. As long as your an exception to sucha silly rule, it's all ok :D

My ICT teacher was female in high school.

Mainly because it's a mail dominant field; that doesn't mean that there are none, it just means that there are few of them.

Chessplayer110 - it takes courage from your side to post something like this and I want to congratulate you. I'm teaching ICT at the moment to secondary students. Sometimes the problem is - with girls - they think it's a "boy"-thing and it's not...[like chess] look at the Microsoft Corporation - from the late 70's...two women and they are still part of the corporation...[and yes, there is Bill Gates in the front...] More and more women enter the world of computers and some even better as men...although the ratio gap will always be there...[as in chess] we have to accept it. It's true what Swathe says...best is, ignore those who try to upset you, you will never win against them..it's the same with women and chess. Most of the time it's those who feel incompetent themselves and want to upset you or those who don't feel good about themselves, they feel the urge to say something bad about you -or to you. Lack of social skills in society.
The same people in the top photo also in the next photo - yes, two women - [and ...shadowslayer...it seems like "Ozzy" has gone through a "sex change"...haha---]
Two? I only see one, and Ozzy Osborn.
I'm reminded of Monty Python and the Flying Circus when I look at that.
hi shadowslayer...
take a look at the second pic..I tried to upload it earlier on chess.com and for some reason couldn't, so I specially uploaded it on my blog for you to see the 2 females...this time clearly...enough? I think I am seeing female "body parts" and clear female characteristics...you might want to agree? Here are pics of Ozzy Osbourne...specially for you! Enjoy! The first in the 1970's

I know you know more about computers than I do, Annabelle, because you always have to help me do things on it. :)

Well, to be honest, I don't believe you know "how to hack a windows xp computer." It doesn't have anything to do with your gender though.

What do you girls want to prove to us? There was a forum about how girls can play chess as good as boys, now this, tomorrow something else. Who cares are you good at chess, computers or whatever. I admit, I am bad at chess and computers too, but I don't make forums to prove diferent...Sorry I am mad about something else, and this forum is good to let it go :-)
Dude, I do know how to hack a windows xp computer. And how would you know if I do or if I don't. And I know it doesn't have anything to do with my gender. I'm just tried of dudes talking to me like I don't know how to work a computer
What do girls have to prove? Some girls want to prove they can do things that boys can do.
But why do you have need to prove anything? What's the point? We cannot cook, but we don't try to prove otherwise.
cyvermont
I am agree with this one.. hahahhaha..
Computer's something that we don't need to prove that one gender better than the other.. =p
I'm not saying that girls are better than boys if you ask me there pretty equal. And the reason why girls might wanna prove things is because guys say there better than girls (some guys) and girls might grow tried of that.
I'm not saying that all girls wanna prove they can do this and that. What I'm saying is girls can do the same thing boys can do as fair as sports, video games etc..
