This thread will more than likely contain reference to the storyline of The Deathly Hallows, as well as the previous books.  If you don't want to know what happens then don't read this thread.

That being said, what did you guys and gals out there think?  I felt guilty for being angry everytime I saw Alan Rickman's face appear in one of the previous movies.

You're a Greyback fan eh?  I don't remember reading him actually dieing.  Actually, no one from the Order, DA, or anyone else killed anyone outright.  Anyone who died in the book by their hands was either accident or happenstance.  I was surprised when HP use the torture spell on that guy who spit on McGonagall.  I was hoping he'd grow a pair and start handing out killing curses at the end but no luck.  How was it that Voldermort died anyway?  HP sent a disarming spell at him and their spells met and then he just died.  I read it over and over again and couldn't figure out how it was that he died.

Err, there WAS a duel and Voldemort died because his 'avada kevadra' spell rebounded at him and killed him because Harry's spell was stronger.

Great book.  Hard to put down.  I always thought Snape would turn out to be a good guy (sort of).

I didn't see the Snape twist coming.  I was really hoping to see a bit more dueling.  I desparately was hoping for Greyback and Lupin to go at it.  In OotP JK hinted at there being a werewolf following that would be fighting but that never happened.

So you took it that Harry's spell made Vold's backfire into him and kill him eh?  I read it 3 times and I still didn't really catch it.  I'm going to go back right now and have another read.

I read through it quickly, as I did with all the others. I have to say I'm very very dissappointed with the ending. I think it had so much momentum building up towards the end (which should have been very poignient) and then it just gave up. Granted, I think the ending works, I just don't think that it worked as well as it could have.

I'm a sucker for dead heros though.

I reread the HP / Vold duel at the end again and finally got the phrase "Voldermort was dead, killed by his own rebounding curse..." to sink into my dull head lol.

for everyones information i am a HUGE hp fan and i read the book already.there WAS a duel between harry and voldemort in the end (it was mostly talking and stuff) but what do you expect. i mean if you know the whole story than you should know that even in book 4 they only cast one spell at each other and then harry escaped.in book 5 harry didnt even duel voldemort properly. dumbledore did and the only thing that happened between harry and voldemort was vold tried to posses him and couldnt. then in book 6 vold was not even IN the fight. the main people wer snape, malfoy, and harry. no vold there. so what did you expect in 7? a whole fight that included every spell u could think of?  anyways some people dont get how vold dies right? well if you read the end carefully you will see the sentence "Voldemort was dead, killed by his own rebounding curse....."  which means harry and vold sent curses at each other and vold's curse rebounded onto himself and he was killed.and some people did die for various reasons but i did not hear that greyback died.

This was my favorite HP book, mostly because it explained a lot about Dumbledore's life and it gave a lot of information on Voldemort, but I liked the Battle of Hogwarts too.

I am a great Harry Potter fan and was thrilled at the ending. I thought that it was a great way to end the series and was really hoping that JK wouldnt kill off HP. It would have been such a sellout if she had.I thought everything in the book made sense and that a lot of the confussion others found, may have been through people speeding through it before anyone could tell them the ending. Understandable but a book needs to be read carefuly and more than once before it can be fully understood.

i always thought that snape would turn out to be good. because the other alternative was that dumbledore was wrong. and dumbledore cannot be wrong. :)

i also suspected that snape liked lily. (i didn't know that he liked her even before going to school. i thought he liked her after seeing her in hogwarts.). there were some indications in the previous books that he liked her. for example, snape never mentioned lily to harry. he always told harry how bad james was but never told anything bad about lily.

after reading book 7, i understood why "snape's worst memory" was his worst memory. it was not worst because he was humiliated by james. it was his worst memory because he called lily a mudblood and his friendship with

lily was ended after that incident.

I liked all the Harry Potters, was really glad that Snape turned out good as I was hoping he would.  I didn't understand how harry died or didn't "really" die and then come back though..that was not explained well in my opinion.
