I have hiccups and I can't concentrate on my chess...

  My girlfriend told me to drink water upside down. Bend over like you're touching the floor and drink a little water and swallow like that...it really works

I tried the drinking water upside down trick...IT WORKED!!! I can't believe it. I've been hiccupping for about 45 mins and I try the drinking water upside down trick once and I'm cured. Thank you ChessMarksTheSpot (Mark). Unbelievable!!!

it is supposed to work by discombobulating you and confusing your body into forgetting to spasm.  when i tried it i got a bunch of water on the floor, out my nose, a big lump on my head, and the hiccups. 

discombobulating is the best word I've heard today

I normally find myself discombobulated when I am playing chess!!

me too, but i think that is a result of the hiccup induced head injury and not the cause of the head injury. 

as I have said many a time..............................getting rid of hiccups the way advised by you know who was elementary, elementary my dear...................!!
