In my year+ here I have managed to make quite a few friends (and some enemies, but that is another story).  About a month ago I tried to send Thanksgiving greetings to all of my friends, but I received a message from Chess.com stating that I am sending too many messages too fast, and the system considers this to be spam.  Cease and desist, or face the consequences (account closed).  So I ceased.  And, for good measure, I desisted, too.  That ought to show them!  Many of my friends never received a Thanksgiving greeting, and I fear that the same might happen now, during this holiday season.  Is it not possible to allow unlimited messages among friends, and to track (and control) only those sent outside of the circle of friends?

Good idea, Vance. Last days I was messaging friends to ask for some vote in the awards 2008, and I was afraid about Spam, so I had to change the message when the easier was to copy and paste...

Actually Vance, I think it's just a trigger of like, if you send more than 10 in X number of minutes. So if you pace yourself over 1/2 hour, you really can send as many as you want. I ran into that with trying to message every member of my groups too - I just paced myself - sent 5 messages, waited 5 minutes, continued.

Which isn't to say your suggestion shouldn't be implemented - I like that idea too, as far as unlimited messages between friends.

But it is easy to work around that system trigger as is also.

/and as someone on your friends list who didn't get a seasons greeting, I have to say "Hmpf!"

Rael, may I ask for your vote as best group manager for my friend Jane (Chesskween) who co administrates with me Chess Misstresses? I know it's off topic but perhaps you didn't see my thread "Vote Jane!" :-)

Thank you Rael, I can save myself one message by wishing you a happy holiday season right here, right now!  Damn, I hope you see it!

Vance, I was going to give you some advice but it looks like all the bases have been covered.  I needed to laugh today, so thanks.  Smile  I hope I get a special Christmas gift.  (money would be nice.)

I have experienced the same thing, Vance. On the 25th of December, I thought of a Christmas wish. Then, I wished that my account in chess.com would  expire or close for whatever reason there could be. On the 27th of December, I opened my account. Then, I tried sending greetings to my friends. Suddenly, the page blinked and a message appeared above. The message says:

           "Message Account Closed
Sorry! This member's account has been closed.
If you feel this was an error, please click here."

I did the copy and paste job. I'm not done sending greetings and then it just closed?...Funny, I thought. My wish was just granted! But why now? LOL... The popular line "Be careful for what you wish for" is pretty true. I tried re-opening my account but I can't.  So, I asked chess.com support to help me and found that the system thought  I was spamming. LOL. Here I am again.

Welcome back!  I guess the spirits in the cyber-world were confused by our conflicting wishes, as you wished to have your account closed, and I wished that you would stick around!  Maligayang Pasko!
