i saw this book at books a million that i wanted to read about but i can't remeber the name of the book. all i remember is that it is about this thief who breaks into this one house. inside this house is a big secret lab that can split a person's shadow from a person and let that person's shadow roam in some sort of shadow world. this thief gets caught but he is special in some way that the scientist need his help for something. so he gets to use this machine. i believe that when he describes when his shadow left him it was weird and his shadow goes through this door. i know this is all quite vague but thats all i can really remember about it.
please try to help me remember what this book was. i would really like to remember its name. thanks for helping.
Could it be Paprika? That was a similar theme of evil vs good and the outcome in doubt until the end; the Japanese movie was done in cartoon style. Be sure to see it if you like this kind of movie.
no thats not the one but thanks for trying :)
What genre is it in?
i would say somewhere around the sci fi/fantasy area.
Your description would match a million books. The title probably has the word 'Thief' or 'Shadow' in it. Do you recall any characters' names - or images from the book's cover?
i know that is the problem. i haven't read the book so i dont remember any of the characters names. i am pretty sure shadow is in the title but i cant confirm that. and all i remember from the cover is that it was hardback and green.
How far is it back to books a million? Was this a physical store or their website?
it was at the actual store. i have scanned the site multiple times trying to remember the book.
what do you mean when you say, how far is it back to books a million?
That you could, perhaps, retrace your steps to the physical store, and find the physical book again.
at the store i was at it was on the right side when you walk in, about two rows behind the sci fi section, about two shelves to the left and on the top or second to top row.
i'm not sure if all the stores are the same though so that may not be correct but at the store i went to im pretty sure that is right.
Stop thinking about it for now... tomorrow the memory will probably hit you in the face randomly. The details you have given are way too vague.
i found it. its called The Shadow Project by Herbie Brennan. thanks for helping me out.
Well done! The cover graphic is quite striking.
yeah, i'm surprised i didnt remember that
