Hey all,
As of July 17th, my employer will terminate my job. The owner/operator decided to do it due to what he saw as "not working to my full potential" and other stuff I thought I proved wasn't true a few months ago when I underwent a 60 day probation period. Guess he thinks with his 1 hour a day visits that that's enough time to make a decision on how hard someone works, even if it's not that busy.
So now I'm trying to find a new job before this one ends. I'll keep you all informed as to how the search goes.

Good hunting! Do you currently work for McD?
Yeah, until the 17th of July.

Try Burger King, their hamburg are so much tastier, especially with the Angus beef.
One of the competition in fast food will be a last resort, everything but the kitchen sink effort to find a new job!
Which sources of job information are you using: Classified ads, govt. employment agency, all of the online jobsearch websites, networking through friends in work, ads in workplaces & local shop windows?
Presumably you have a CV: is it compelling?
Have you done a SWOT analysis of your past work experience to guide your future job choices?
How many jobs are you actively applying for per week?
How qualified are you? Is further training a realistic option?

What is the most source after in Camrose ? artfizz can u help me out? I am trying to say what is the most jobs that keep coming up , like building industry, mining, IT, computing and so. For example here our goverment lack of IT experiance.
Camrose is looking for police constables.
Farming seems to be a key activity - though it is doubtless highly mechanised farm work.
Nestled in the heart of Alberta, Camrose is home to approximately 16,500 residents who regularly enjoy the Rose City's beautiful park system and world-class recreational facilities and events. A city whose allure and vitality are rarely rivaled, this dynamic and warm-hearted community begs to be discovered! Tourism is a big sector (not least fast food!); there should be quite a few openings there: cleaners, guides, park attendants, clerical, delivery, ...
'Although it is excruciatingly rich, horrifyingly sunny and more full of wonderfully exciting people than a pomegranate is of pips, it can hardly be insignificant that when a recent edition of Playboy magazine headlined an article with the words "When you are tired of Camrose you are tired of life", the suicide rate quadrupled overnight.'
I've got an resume (CV to you folks), and from it, I've done 6 years in fast food, 1 month in convenience store work, and two years in grocery store work. I'm trying for janitorial and grocery jobs, and a few restaurant jobs as well.
Well, it's 12 days left and still nothing. I'm a little worried myself, I just hope I can get a job before the 17th.
How many jobs have you seen so far ?
How many any interviews did you get?
Did you consider moving or commuting say to Edmonton?
No interviews yet, and I may move if I have no choice, but it's not the best cause my dad helps me with groceries from time to time.
I will try to give some suggestions to you on the process of how to go about a job application. I am now retired and went thru a few experiences in my life that I would like to share with you.
When you apply for a job, if you can deliver your résumé in person rather than by mail, it is much more relevant as someone does see you and may put a good word for you, it does have more impact and do ask how long usually before you are contacted. You also get the name of the person you have to contact for a follow up and do ask for it.
If you have been referred to the business by a friend or an acquaintance, do mention it as long as your friend or acquaintance agrees to do this.
Do mention why you want to work for this business, what attracts you and what you can contribute, what are your strengths, accomplishments and skills in other words, what you can do to make them better to increase their business, very important here this note.
Do a weekly follow up on all applications, either in person or by phone and take note of when and who you spoke to.
Do ask for a trial period of say one month to show your valuable contribution to the business you are catering to.
Do this in your covering letter for your résumé.
Never forget that your résumé is your marketing tool, the one that will promote and sell your assets in an attempt to get an interview to convince the business you are targeting to hire you.
Remember that you are not writing a curriculum vitae but a résumé as you are applying for a job and not a company President or CEO or University chair post.
So keep you résumé to one page. Note that the cover letter is to add a touch of your personality such as mentioning: I am a convivial person, get along well with people and invite them to come back for another enjoyable meal and hope to serve their table in the near future etc, try to sell yourself. The cover letter is by no means a conclusion to your résumé but rather saying what your assets are in promoting the business you are seeking to get a job from.
Now if you want me to review your résumé and your cover letter, you can send me an e-mail or message here at chess.com and I will see how I can help you.
Best success in your future endeavors.
If anyone's curious to how long it is until the end of my last shift at McDonalds, there's a countdown for members at my blog counting down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds until my final shift is over.
Never buy a Big Mac from a disgruntled employee on their final day!
... if they work in the kitchen!
I noticed in one of the daily papers that one of the local inns is hiring F/T and P/T, so I'm gonna drop off my resume with a cover letter there tomorrow before work.
I got a letter from my boss offering to extend my job til the 31st (in other words until the end of July), but I declined. The manager who gave me the letter agreed with me, saying that my keeping me only to end of month was just using me for Big Valley Jamboree (a local country music festival, can double Camrose's population for 3 days), and then tossing me away like trash. I'm not about to get used, thank you very much!
...
Terrific! The more channels you can use, the better.
Are you sysematically going through all of the job adverts in all of the local papers?
