I can't remember any support tickets I've filed that didn't get prompt responses from staff with the brief exception of when the cheat detection system was overloaded quite a few years ago (The site has since rectified the problem to the point that I no longer feel the need to run Batch Analyzer or ChessAnalyze.).

I wonder if these complaints are a result of some sort of confirmation bias.

Perhaps it is a case of "oh-no-not-her-again"

In any case, Erik told me he is working on a potential solution, and I have pledged not to get frustrated and out any more porn trolls on the boards.

The goal we can all agree upon is that the graphic, disturbing porn images, and the people who are behind them, need to be removed from the site.

Not so sure. You talk about cheating, but how many players have you actually analyzed (with appropriate software, not with the human fallible I think that person might be cheating method)?

As for porn, if I see such content I file a support ticket. I have always gotten a prompt response, and the response has always been appropriate to the type of content. I can't remember any exceptions in the numerous years I've been a member of the site.

Re-posting such content in the forums is nearly as offensive as the original transgression and should not be done.

  He did seem rather easy going and was good for giving almost any thread a little bump down the road.

I can't remember kayknight being offensive either. Lots of bumping, but nothing offensive that I've seen.

Kaynight is a friend and was a fellow administrator.  He is quite bright, at times opinionated, and has a subtle, wicked sense of humor.

I can understand how he would be easily misunderstood.

He was not a troll - even if he was provcative at times.  He had keen insights into human nature and put me in my place more than once.

The joint would be a dreadful bore without Kaynights dry + wet wit. A genuine article. Calls it like he sees it and was spot on 99% of the time. He was fearless calling bs on something. Those that misunderstood his posts pehaps were just missing the forest because the trees were obsuring the view.
