I'm loving my new job as a meat clerk at the local Real Canadian Superstore. I really can not dislike or hate it, as it's perfect IMHO:
I work from 7 to 12 noon 5 days a week, and have my afternoons and evenings off to do what I like. Not to mention I get paid $12.40/hr when I work Sundays (I've done 2 straight Sundays, so I'm bound to have a nice check!), and $11.40/hr the rest of the week. Getting paid to take my coffee break is a nice change back as well - I hated when I lost paid breaks back at McDonald's - I cannot say how many hours I lost each week to my breaks, but it was a lot! Plus the guaranteed hours cause of the union doesn't hurt either! Plus, I only have to please 4 people there, and not 9 or 10 like I had to at McDonald's! You would think I would have spotted any negative aspects of the job by now, but I have not.
Just thought I would let you all know how it's going so far!

Very glad to hear about your new job and that you like it, WhiteEagle. Thanks for letting us know.
Meat clerk?
Don't bother about the job, so long as it pays you well.
Could you explain this expression "meat clerk"?
Sure, a meat clerk is someone who working in the meat department of a grocery store, thus a "meat clerk".
I'm now on the hunt for a second job, as the first one alone doesn't pay enough in each paycheck to cover all the bills. I'm once again busy filling out job applications and submitting resumes.
trysts
I think I'm going to go outside today. It's kind of cold though. Sometimes I go outside and it's not as cold as I thought it would be. I'm just going to wear a sundress, and a sweater. Okay, I'm going outside now. I'll let you know what happens
Need any help with the interviews?
I have interviewed well over a feww hubndred people in my life as a manager over a 35 year period.
I might have some clues for you such as "keywords" to mention when being interviewed and you have taken and the results and your goal(s) with the new job you are applying for.
And when to bring up promotion and salary improvement discussions.
Just a few tips.
Want more? just give me a sample of what is covered in an interview and I will see what I can do to help.
Send me a message if you want to pursue this.
Best to you.
I will consider this offer and get back to you on that, paul211.
I got some good news from my old job but I promised I wouldn't share it. Let me say that an interesting possibility exists in my future!
Great!
I believe that your initiative, your enthousiasm, your commitment to the job and your propensity to help people are all great assets to get a managerial post.
Then you really get into a challenging and rewarding job.
Trust me I know how tough a manager's job is! I run my own company on the side (haven't been able to make any money yet) as the President/CEO all by myself.
I need to kick my habit of being lazy at home - I won't get a job by just sitting around all day watching movies and playing games!
