I am having trouble loading Chess.com/mobile onto my BlackBerry Curve   (brand new). I can load the app but when I enter my username and password nothing happens. Is anybody else having trouble like this? I am taking a trip soon and I really don't want to drag a laptop around with me. I've asked the tech guys here but they have no answer for me as yet.

Thanks!

Hi bluelight,

Do you have a data plan? Can you use another applications like google maps on the phone?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. Just wanted to make sure its not an external issue.

I am using the mobile chess on nokia and it works fine.

I think in Blackberry you have to allow the application to conect to the internet.

Do you know if that setting are?

I have old blackberry (8700g) and version 1.0 of mobile chess worked fine.

New version 1.1 behaves same way as bluelight described. You enter username and password and nothing happens.

Dont know where to get version 1.0 that was working OK.

I am assuming it might be same issue with bb curve.

Blackberry just upgraded to version 4.5 from version 4.2, could this be the problem? I bought this phone just so I could play Chess and I am getting rather frusrated. I went back to T-mobile today and they said the phon eis in perfect working condition. I am at a loss!!!!!

I'm also on T-Mobile and I have the same problem on my RAZR 2.  I didn't have this problem on my old RAZR.

Just to be certain. After you enter your username and password you press the login by selecting it and pressing "fire" on it? If you do that what happens then. Nothing at all or does it show a screen where you have to allow the application to access the internet?

It shows a screen where you have to allow the app to access the internet. When I press "yes" it does nothing, just stalls.

The 1.1 version of the app should handle that specific freeze. At least it does for some Blackberry mobiles. There is also info in this thread on Blackberry connection issues if you haven't seen it.

I have it working ! :) I followed Flanne link to another instructions.

It did not work at first (setting APN).

I installed blackbarry destop software on my laptop. Using that I connected to the phone and removed chess application completely. Then I set correct APN , installed chess app and ... success :)

thx for help
