Well, yes..- but I suffered a stroke sometime ago and cannot play anymore..  You are right about never too old play, but you need two hands to play the sax..- I'm OK though,- and you couldn't know.. Maybe we can play a game of chess?

Violin, saxophone, voice.... first two very badly. The last one is, alas, rusty -- haven't been in a choir for going on 15 years now.

I try to play guitar. Several times I was even getting fairly good at it. The problem is that I stop playing regularly for months or even years. To stay good you have to keep playing. Now my fingers are getting older and just don't appreciate what I try make them do. That's probably one of the reasons I'm picking up chess again. My fingers can deal with that.Laughing

I play guitare two. I find that for me it is just lack of motivation. I would like to be good because then I would enjoy playing more but I know that only practicing can get me up there.

It was great fun when I was a kid. I played from about 3rd grade to 12th grade (went to school in the US in those days). I was fascinated by it, but just never really had a true talent for it, so never progressed passed 4th chair in my provincial high school orchestra. Without that genuine talent to play well, my interest waned considerably when I got older (and the instrument is quite expensive when you no longer get a free one from the school Wink).

But good or bad, my actual playing was irrelevant compared to what I learned just being dedicated to an instrument and being part of an orchestra as a child. I find it absolutely a crime how many music programmes are folding, both in the US and the UK.

Music is an integral part of a good education, in my opinion, and should have nothing to do with how good the young musicians ever turn out to be, or if this high school or that ever produces a professional musician (which mine did, once or twice, actually!). It's one of the things that helps form the mind and character, and I cannot fathom my childhood without it... I really feel for kids nowadays who won't have the chance because of all the budget cuts I keep hearing about that keep cutting music programmes.
