i usually awaken at 4:00 a.m., the radio, which runs all night, is on.  my border collie sleeps at the end of the bed.  the big collie is in the next room.  i get up sometime about 4:30.  i let the dogs out.  the big collie always runs out thinking she is going to find a rabbit ( again ).  i put the border in the van and we ( i ) go out for coffee.  i sit in the van with the border and listen to the news.  i walk the border. i go home and walk the big collie ( she does not like cars ).  i heat up some phony dry asian noodle bowl and start playing chess.  eventually i feed the collies ( they stare at me as i eat my erstatz noodles out of the styrofoam bowl with my plastic fork ) and then i go back to playing chess and reading the london daily mail online.  dawn breaks.  i go outside and watch the light.  the dogs bark.

another day begins.
