Thanks for the compliments Corrijean. I enjoy reading magazines that cover what is new in Science and also anything to do with History.

Popular Science is one of my favorite web sites. And lately I've been into http://phys.org/ . They have a lot of great articles.

I used to subscribe to PopSci, but too many of their articles were about really cool cars that you can't actually buy, IMO. Still they have interesting stuff.

I like phys.org, and sciencedaily.com as well.

--- Thanks for the new posts. I do have my guilty pleasures tho such as " Hemmings Motor News ", it has no practical purpose for me but I luv to read about antique cars and trucks.

I haven't subscribed to it in awhile, but their website has some pretty interesting articles. Here's a recent one I liked:

Thanks for the post Corrijean.

Sometimes people who are ( or were ) married come up with rather good jokes. Recently the man who had just gotten divorced was heard to remark to his ex-wife " You know that in truth the only Good-years that we had were the tires on our car "

A tediously accurate map of the solar system

AlCzervik

One of my nieces wanted to build a scale of our solar system. I was there when my brother put down a pea, as earth, and tried to describe the relative positions of everything else. She still did it, but, instead of showing the relation, she described it.

I was impressed how fast a six year old got it. Then again, I'm old!

Some of the comments in that link are good-"most of space is just space".

That reminds me that I only scrolled through 2.2 billion kilometers so far. I was saving the rest for today.

I like the comments. They add a touch of humor.

AlCzervik: Yes it is fun to watch kids when they are learning new things. I like that thought about Space ( indeed a lot of it is just space  lol ).

Well we've made it again, it is St.Patrick's Day. I'm sitting here eating supper a bit late ( & having a glass of Beer ) and I want to wish everyone a happy day.

The time has come to mention manure. Why manure ? It can provide electric energy and is quite safe. Southern Alberta now has a $30 million dollar Biogas plant in operation creating 2.8 megawatts of power ( to provide electricity to about 2,500 average homes ).

It's very handy for gardening, too.

--- Thanks for the post Corriejean. Yes a very good point. When they finished getting energy ( ie: biogas ) from this stuff they then take it back out to the farms for fertilizer. Energy and fertilizer from manure, it's a win - win.

Sometimes one sees sad news that is still interesting. Many of us that are cartoon fans like Bugs Bunny and his many pals including the rather loud Tasmanian Devil. The May 2014 issue of " Discover " magazine mentions that the noisy lttle devils are dying off rather quickly. A very strange type of cancer is killing these animals and Scientists seem to be stumped. This cancer spreads from animal to animal like a virus and more info is being sought but time is getting short as the poor little devils continue to disappear.

I am sure it is confirmation bias on my part, but it seems that Australian animals get a lot of weird diseases.
