Thanks for the info Corrijean.

Those of you who are going to be out and about after dark during the next couple of evenings please be careful. I see that the full moon is out and the " Lunatics " may be on the prowl ( yes some of the loonies are affected by the full lunar orb, at times ).

The moon was beautiful last night. I was out and about when it was rising.

Thanks for the info Corrijean.

I gather that Goole receives close to 50,000 applications per week ( yup per week ) from people who want to work there. So if you are trying to get in with Google there might be a bit of a wait until they send a reply back to you.

Wow. I wonder how many employees they have. Maybe I should google it. :)

I have watched some youtube videos of people Google has brought in to give talks (SGU plus some famous authors). It would be pretty neat to work for a place that brought famous intellectuals to you in the hope it would bring you some sort of indirect benefit (curiosity and critical thinking, perhaps?).

Thanks for the info Corrijean.

The other day there was an item on the radio about a " imaginary artist ". Yes this lady imagines that she is doing a painting or a sculpture and after a while says to folks " Ok there it is, my new work of art " ( no I'm not making this up  lol ). She had a show a few days ago and when some people claimed that there was no art to see she said that you must imagine the art. She even sold a couple of imagimary pieces at $35k each. Perhaps the police will ask her to imagine some fraud charges ?

That reminds me of another fella who created a book containing  biographies of imaginary artists, but the art was real enough. I wonder how art appraisers will decide if those imaginary pieces are authentic or not.

Thanks for the post Ivandh, I had not heard about that fellow. One thing that bothered me a lot is that I can't seem to find people who will pay $35k for an imaginary painting, I do have a good imagination  lol.

It's a smart move. Google hires bright (mostly young) people. A seminar with another intellectual (or, innovator), may open a door, and, if you work for google, whatever you discover probably belongs to them when you're in their employ.

If I were in IT, I would go to all seminars. If I had an idea that I thought may go somewhere (read: $), I wouldn't tell anyone. I might start my own business.

Yes I understand the feeling, years ago when I was very young I imagined that I was very talented but then reality set in.

Not to be political, however there has been a very serious security failure in the Canadian Capital of Ottawa earlier today. This situation has been extensively covered on the CNN and Fox News-channels. Be careful out there because ISIS is on the move !

Yesterday was a sad day but the government of this nation is carrying on today as usual and so it may be time to liven things up a bit. Tomorrow is October 24th we all know what that means. Right ??? For those who are a bit slow on the draw it means that Christmas Eve is only 2 months away ( So let's get out to those malls now ! ).

A creative thief. Not many people would think of putting a chainsaw down the front of their pants. Also, it would be hard to ride a bicycle while carrying a chainsaw.

Well I must say this is odd --- my old old PC is now letting me post again. However the text is off center again and I can only read a post by bringing it down to the bottom of the page to the area where I write out my replys. Well let us see how long this lasts ( but hey old cabby is back for now  rofl ).

AlCzervik

Good to have you back, cabby.

Now, get off your bum and get yourself a new pc or laptop!

--- Thanks very much for the good wishes AlCzervik and you are quite correct, this old PC is not up to the job anymore ( and yet I've become rather fond of the old machine  lol ).

There was an interesting Item on CNBC the other day. The US Navy are now testing underwater drones that are the size and shape of sharks. At this point these drones are being used to gather information but in the future the shark-drones might be used as weapons.

At this time I'm having some brunch here as it is now lunchtime on Dec 31st in this province of Alberta. If I could travel by a very fast rocket-ship westward acoss the Pacific ( & across the international date-line ) I could have been busy welcoming in the New Year, however 2015 is till about 12 hours away for this time-zone. Anyway for people in Australia & New Zealand ( & points close to that area ): HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

The other day I was busy cleaning off my Globe ( yes a globe that shows all the features of our little planet ) and I noticed something rather odd. It would seem that we have two Prince Edward Islands on our world. Most people with a basic understanding of geography know that there is a Prince Edward Island in the southern part of the Gulf of St.Lawrence. However as it turns out there is another Prince Edward Island and this one is located very far South on our world. Indeed if you were to sail due South from Durban in South Africa you would end up near this Island. The strange thing is having two places with the same name ( I mean how many New Yorks or Romes are there ? ).

The Feb 2015 issue of " Ideas & Discoveries " brings to light the mystery of the two Mona Lisas. We all know about the one that is on display at Louvre ( and is insured for $ 800 million dollars ). The Isleworth Mona Lisa was found in England in 1913 and is a copy of the better knownn Mona Lisa however on the 2cnd one the background is not finished. The Isleworth Mona Lisa was sold to a Swiss art foudation in 2008 where it has been closely examined. One theory is that Da Vinci was not satisfied with the earlier version and did not finish it but painted a new picture instead.
