A review by the person otherwise known as "Kevin DuBrow"

Life the Game could be one of the most popular MMORPGs out there. Plenty of activities to engage in, great graphics, and a wide variety of environments all contribute to this game's splendor.

However, Life the Game has many puzzling aspects. One thing that may confuse the player is the inability to customize your character. You start with a randomly generated avatar in one of many starting locations. You have no say in appearance, race, or gender. One thing that may comfort players is that these factors usually do not affect game experience, save for an advantage in social skills. Early in the game's start, players tended to stay within one's own group, but these barriers eventually deteriorated later on.

Life the Game is still very open ended though it may not seem so early on. This game has a innovative system in which more veteran players, known as "parents", take care of new players until they are experienced enough to leave their "parents". Strong bonds are usually developed between the newbie and the parents, and they stay in touch throughout the game.

In the game, players go through a long and dull tutorial, called "school". This stage of a player's Life can seem like a tedious process, but most people believe that taking part in school will pay off later on. In "school", most players form groups based on common interests. This is optional, but being part of a group can help you have a more enjoyable time.

Opon graduating from school, players may continue schooling and start training for a specific career, and others may start their jobs immediately, often in the Armed Forces. For now I'll talk about careers.

There are a variety of careers to choose from, though some can be more rewarding in terms of money. The in-game economy is very complex and may go through boom and bust, but always rewards players who show a considerable effort. Money can be used in a variety of ways. You may choose your housing, clothes, or buy services.

What sets Life the Game apart from other MMORPGs is the lack of skill points. There is no way to tell your intelligence or stamina, in terms of points, but you can easily tell yourself apart from other players.

This game is interesting in that few players participate in PvP, or player vs. player combat. One of the main concerns for players is death.

Life is harsh when it comes to death. When someone gets extreme damage to the body, or has an expired subscription, their avatar remains in the game, but some speculate that there is a more enjoyable server that dead players go to, but there is no evidence proving that. Many reason that if the developer made the alternate server, he would tell the players. As it is, the developer of the game rarely interacts with players, which lead some to believe that he does not exist in the game. After all, if the developer made the game, who made the developer?

Many believe that the reason the maker of Life the Game is so detached traces back to the beta stages of the game. The first two beta testers exploited a glitch in the game against his wishes, and he cursed all players to have a harder experience.

Some people think Life is hardly worth playing at all, and end their own subscriptions. But it is an ultimately enjoyable experience. But don't take it too seriously, it's just a game. :)
