    Well, that gives you a leg up over those people who are average but think they're better. Those people are less likely to seek improvement. You know where you stand now, so it's up to you to do something about it.

    well i think people on here are on average above average at chess, if u understand that. mainly due to loving chess enough to wait for days for just 1 move! unbelievable

    but we all do it

    Well I'm just above average rated at 1459, the average is 1302 so I'm pretty good, But I won't rest until I reach 2700 mark.

    I thought I was good until I went to college and my firend beat me over & over again with rook odds.

    He was around 1050-1100 at the time (so I must've been around 500-600)! Laughing

    I remember thinking this one kid in college was a chess God (he was rated around 1400).  I remember the first time he forked my king & rook he didn't even take the rook right away (did some sort of zugzwang first), I was very impressed.  It took me a year & a few months but finally I beat him.  Eventually I was about even with him.
