    Hello,

I will be applying to multiple service academies this summer and I was wondering if anyone has been through this or knows anything about the process. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yes. You have to get drinks and food for the customer, make sure the service area is clean, bus not only tables in your section, but you have to help others. Cash checks and run credit cards, keep track of your money, run food for everyone, refill everything throughout the shift, run your report, do your side-work, and be on time for your shift, or get someone to cover for you, and learn how to fake-smile. That should do it. Oh, you should also know every ingredient in all the food and drinks, and you should know about 20 reds, and 20 white wines to suggest and be able to match with the food. It's tough, but it beats going into the military, that's for sure.Smile

I think you may have misunderstood. I meant the United States Military Academies.

Don't apply. Instead, do something more positive for the international society.

I believe in not taking my Country for granted. I will serve as an officer in the US Armed Services and perhaps one day I will influence positive international change. Your response is a bit ignorant, but I understand where you are coming from.

I'm sorry, I don't understand your comment. Could you please elaborate?

Influence change with guns? Who the hell threatens America? America threatens everyone else! You should realize, at some point in your life, that the American military is doing the bidding of people in Washington who couldn't care less about their citizens. Why don't you use you GD mind, intead of using a gun to solve the problems of this country and the world.

When I was young, I went to the library every day, and wished I had a library in my house, so I can read constantly, and learn continuously. But now, you do have a library in your house--your bloody computer! Now, you can learn things on your own, instead of listening to propaganda from this sick, twisted government! Use your GD mind! Don't sign up to murder people across the GD ocean. They never did you any harm. They are not interested in coming over here at all. They are just concerned with their own countries. They want a nice life for themselves and everyone they like and love. You are signing up to murder people in other countries for people who don't care about you, your family, or anyone you like and love.

    Trysts,

Obviously you harbor some negative thoughts toward the Government and Military. However, this thread is not a place for you to post your ideals or attack mine. I respect your right to post comments like that on the Internet, a right that our Government guarantees you, but I must ask you to refrain from further posts here. Your opinion has been stated, however crudely, and it has been noted. Thank you.

Again I must ask you to stop posting in this thread as you are using it to propagate your ideals. You are being quite disrespectful not only to me, but to those who have died to allow you to have your beliefs today. Please do not continue to post in my thread.

No one died for my beliefs. No one died for my freedom. Governments only wish to limit the freedom you are born with. I only wish you think! Think! Unless you want to murder people for no good reason? Unless you stopped thinking altogether? Unless you're just someone who follows, and refuses to think. You will be murdering people across the ocean, who do not have a quarrel with you. Who do not threaten this country, at all! Before you go, read about what has been going on in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, etc. Read about what happened in Vietnam. This country has murdered 3 million people in Vietnam. A million people in Afghanistan and Iraq. Murdered them! They were living their lives, across the ocean, and America went over there and murdered them for profit! You should think. You have a brain. Try to use it.

I have given you warnings and you have chosen to disregard them. You have been reported to the admins. At this point I again ask you to refrain from further comments as they have no relevence to this thread. You are entitled to your beliefs and the right to speak about them, a right that our Government protects under the Frist Ammendment. I thank you for your suggestions about further research and I can assure you that I am well versed in the situation over seas. Thank you for your comments, however unrelated and poorly expressed, your views have been overstated and promptly disregarded. Please do no continue to post in this thread. I encourage you to message me with any further concerns about my safety and ehtics.

You are going to fight for my freedom but you don't want to listen to people who have different attitudes? You think that someone is ignorant for suggesting that there are better ways of effecting positive international change than blowing stuff up?

You shouldn't have any trouble getting in.

    Ivandh,

If you would read my last post I have welcomed her to message me privately. It is not an issue of ignoring people with different attitudes. This thread was started as a way for me to receive advice and information on the military service academies, not as an outlet for people to begin posting their ideals. I welcome different opinions, but not when they overshadow the purpose of my thread. Thank you for considering all aspects of this situation before posting.

Why do you want me to message you, when we can speak here? I speak, because I can speak, not because I have the right to speak. I don't know what I'm saying to you that is poorly expressed? It is what I think. Are there grammatical errors?

I am trying to express to you that governments cannot run about protecting corporate interests, and profiting from endless wars, if people like you refuse to be mere pawns in their game to profit for the few. Even if it were to profit for everyone in the country, it would still be horribly wrong. Soldiers are sent to other people's countries to kill them. To kill them. To kill them. How can you wish to participate in this? Aren't the people in Afghanistan entitled to live and develop their country however they wish? Yemen, Somalia, aren't they entitled to have their own country? Why would you allow yourself to be apart of a military which is governed by people who don't care about you, nor the countries they invade? You will be used for horrible things. The American military, like any military should be used for defence of the country, and it's citizens. Not an aggressive invading force for corporate interests. Corporate interests are profit-based. They don't care about you, they care about making the population of the countries they wish to steal from--to steal the resources those countries have to make them independent--in a state of fear. Fear of you murdering them and their families. Is this what you want? How can you want to hurt people like this?

Your ideals is not the topic of this thread. Please message me or start your own thread to express yourself. I understand you do not like the Government or the military, but I did not ask your opinion and I respectfully request that you cease with your comments on my thread.

I will thank you to consider to reason for this thread before posting. Every person is entitled to their own opinions. However, the same as with trysts, I did not ask for yours. Your image post is not appreciated and I will thank you as well to only post comments relevant to the original purpose of this thread.

Chessbee, you need to understand that you don't have to ask for people's opinions for them to iterate them, especially in cases where they are different than yours. About the relevance of comments to the original topic, well, it's about you joining the military, so I think it is relevant.

The idea that your government "needs" you to invade mid eastern countries, or be part of underground (or not) armed activity in Africa, South America etc, for the sake of people in your country, is, very simply put, an outrageous lie. Governments use all their resources to make young people believe this.

Where you were born on this universe, in what time interval you could have been born is completely arbitrary, you could very well be philosophizing with Socrates "at this moment." What makes a country "your country?" Is it because you share some common system of thought, an ideal, common material interests? The only interest is at the hands of like several hundred thousands in the whole world and basically all others work for them. So that can't be it. Freedom, democracy? That can't explain organizing military take overs or invading countries for oil. So, what we are left with is, nothing.

It is completey arbitrary that your country is "your" country, and think about it, isn't it a little curious that all people in all countries love "their" countries? Could it be, that, people are "made to believe" they're supposed to love "their" countries, and not for any objective reason?

Basically, there's no objective explanation whatsoever that can justify voluntarily killing people thousands of kilometers far from "your country," because there's no deep "truth" or "ideal" that "your country" represents which favors people fighting for it. On the contrary, people only work like modern slaves, and states are what makes this possible and what keeps these going.

You were just born in there and at a certain decade, and were subjected to strong propaganda starting from your childhood, through schools, through your family, through people around you, basically, the whole society.

There's much, much more than what has been told to you. So yes, do the world a favor and move on to a different type of activity. They might not be fully justified too, but at least you won't be part of directly killing people in the process. They love "their country" too.
